The Tracker always points directly at the sun, with 100% of the sun’s energy reaching the PV modules. Amazingly, there are only two moments all year when the sun’s rays are perpendicular to ideally placed fixed panels (facing south with a tilt equal to the latitude). This is at solar noon on the two equinoxes, once in March and once in September. At the summer solstice, at best the sun’s rays hit the solar modules at a 23.5° angle, losing a minimum of 8.3% of energy. The rest of the day, the angle is higher and the loss is greater. Furthermore, in the morning and evening the sun shines on the back of the panels on the summer solstice!
