With Spring just around the corner, Solaflect Energy is getting ready for another busy season of solar Tracker installations. Our Trackers deliver 40% more power than conventional roof or ground-mounted fixed solar arrays, operate virtually maintenance-free, and produce clean energy at far less than the ever-rising price of electricity through the gas-fired grid.
The combination of rising utility rates and a bump in the Federal investment tax credit from 26% to 30% has further reduced the time it takes for solar to pay for itself. And with an expected lifetime of 25 years, you can count on a steady stream of climate-friendly power that locks in years of big household energy savings.
Since Solaflect’s founding in the Upper Valley in 2007, we have installed more than 1,200 solar Trackers across Vermont, New Hampshire and northwestern Massachusetts, accumulating well over 20 million hours of field operating experience. Our customers love our cutting-edge technology and service. You can check out some of our customer testimonials here.
Built in New England, for New England
Solaflect Trackers are designed to take full advantage of long summer days in New England, while holding up to the fiercest winter storms — even as climate change is making all four seasons more unpredictable and extreme.
Our Trackers feature a patented design innovation that uses wire suspension technology to replace more than 1,200 pounds of steel I-Beams needed to support traditional solar trackers. This creates a lightweight but highly durable system that drives cost out while maintaining the strength needed to withstand the toughest New England weather. Snow sheds quickly off the steep (and vertical at night) surface, and wind-sensors stow the array in a flat (horizontal) position during high wind periods to minimize long-term wear and tear.
In winter months, Trackers shed snow quickly, and make the most of every minute of available sunlight, using dual-axis tracking technology to follow the Sun’s movement precisely from dawn till dusk.
Solar panels actually achieve some of their best operating conditions in cold weather months (ironically, solar panels don’t like heat), especially on clear, low-humidity days, when the panels’ operating efficiency can rise 30% above that achieved on a hot summer day. But that’s only true when the panels aren’t covered in snow! Rooftop solar panels in New England typically lose up to 15% of their potential annual energy production due to snow cover.
Solaflect Trackers are built for New England winters and designed to shed snow quickly. They operate at a steep angle to the sun during winter days, since the sun is low in the sky, and “sleep” at night in a vertical position. This dynamic snow-shedding feature translates into thousands of dollars of extra electricity production over 25 years of dependable, four-season service.
Clean, Affordable Backyard Power for a Whole Suite of Home Energy Applications
With the Federal solar tax credit back up to 30% thanks to last year’s Inflation Reduction Act, the per-Tracker discount/savings translates to over $10,000 per residential installation. For those interested in financing, Solaflect customers qualify for below-market solar loan interest rates of 4.99% through Mascoma Bank, with financing options including little to no money down up front, locking in affordable, secure, long-term power delivery. Once installed, your Solaflect Tracker can easily save $25,000 or more on your home electricity bill over 25 years of dependable service. And you’ll have peace of mind knowing that you are protected against ever-rising utility rates that are beyond your control.
If you own an electric vehicle, you won’t have to worry about rising and volatile gasoline prices, either. You’ll be locking in a 25-year supply of EV battery charging at a price equivalent to about $1 per gallon. Since our latest Trackers are can generate about 10,000 kilowatt-hours of annual electricity under optimal siting conditions, about 1/3rd of a Tracker’s production will get you 10,000 miles of EV driving, leaving plenty to service other household needs.
